Food

Imagine this: huge wooden platters in the centre of each table, where everyone tucks in and helps themselves. People chatting, passing dishes, pointing, laughing and sharing. Your guests are involved in the meal and enjoying each others’ company. See the room come alive as each course arrives – watch people interact as they talk, pass, laugh and try new things.

The biggest meal of your life so far could be an experience that you and your guests will remember forever. You can have a wedding feast with noise and excitement, informal chatter and ethically sourced good food with a modern, rustic twist.

Loxwood Meadworks

Have you ever wondered where the term ‘honeymoon’ comes from? Some believe it dates back centuries, to a very boozy – and generous – wedding tradition involving mead. As the story goes, newly married couples were given enough bottles of mead to last for their first month together – or in other words, one moon’s worth. The gift was to celebrate the sweetness of their unity, and this time came to be known as the ‘honeymoon period’. Honey is also a divine substance, historically. In Celtic mythology, it was said that a ‘river of mead’ ran through paradise.
